Horrible customer service, terrible manager/owner, but a really pretty lake.
As a Master SCUBA Instructor I have Taken Students to this lake the visibility is best in the area. Great place to dive and Camp over night. I highly recommend this place to dive on your own. They have several try before you buy wet suit at this location. See you there soon.
We drove over two hours to get here. A friend recommended camping here, and the website stated "No Reservations Required." When we arrived, we were told that only "divers" were allowed on weekends. But since we had driven so far, they would make an exception.
Most people would be worried about their customer, especially after locking them in, not this guy. He made like it was our fault. Apparently, there is a secret key box that "divers" all know about. We weren't smart enough, and shouldn't have been allowed to stay anyway.
The whole time, we felt like we were second-class patrons because we weren't divers. We just wanted to camp and enjoy the beautiful lake. Yes, the lake is beautiful. It's the only good thing about the whole place.
If you're a "diver", sure, go here. But if you're a normal human being who appreciates customer service, decent treatment, and access to medical necessities, DON'T EVER GO HERE!
Early the next morning, I had a severe medical condition flare up. I asked my friend to drive me to the hospital, but he couldn't. Why? Because they lock the gate after 10pm! There was no key and no emergency number. We called the number they had given us, no answer. It finally took a phone call to 911 and an ambulance to get the owner/manager to bring the key over.
I have always a good time at Lake Rawlings. The water is very clear and lots of things to see while you are there. Boats, Cars, Buses, Airplane and Black Hawk Helicopter and a ton of fish. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. Had tent problems Kevin had some parts someone left behind and saved my weekend. No need to bring tanks. Unlimited tank refills is the way to go if your going for the weekend. They have lots of equipment if you get there and forgot something. If you get a chance to night dive there it's great if there is a full moon, the fish will follow you everywhere. Think about how many divers that have received their C-Cards at this Lake, Hmmmmm. I got carded there and have meet some really awesome divers who let me dive with them when my buddy was a no show. As far as negative comments go I only have one. I wish it was closer so I could Dive there more often.
Horrible service, hour wait for equipment when there was no others in line waiting.
Lovely lake, great place to scuba and meet fellow divers
Nothing nice to say. Sketchy from start to finish. Checked in okay, bathrooms were disgusting and had dog crap on the floor. We were there around open on a Saturday and clearly the place had not been cleaned in days. They made us lowly ‘non-instructors‘ park over the hill. We were there for just one tank. Vis wasn't good. When we returned our tanks the guy didn't remember we had just checked in with him an hour before. I don't expect someone to remember everyone who comes through the door, but if you cant remember two people you talked to an hour ago, I question your lucidity. Which of course makes me question the safety of the place in general. In summary, dumpy facility, questionable staff, okay lake.
